Humility: Is it a Lost Character Trait?

It seems as though the idea of humility is a lost character trait of the 21st century.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:6-7)

We live in a society where promoting ones self is the name of the game. I can remember being taught as a child to consider others before myself. We have taken matters in our own hands and are quick to let someone know how we feel and what we don't like. We do things because of what we think we might get in return, instead of doing it from the heart. I know I have fallen in this area as well, afraid to let God take control of the situation. But I have also seen him work on my behalf in situations where another person was taking advantage. The definition of humility; is a modest or low view of one's importance. Essentially, that means you are not more important than anyone else, we all our his children and his love is the same for everyone of us. When humble ourselves and allow God to promote us, it will be done with perfection. Your turn is coming!
