It seems as though the idea of humility is a lost character trait of the 21st century.
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:6-7)
We live in a society where promoting ones self is the name of the game. I can remember being taught as a child to consider others before myself. We have taken matters in our own hands and are quick to let someone know how we feel and what we don't like. We do things because of what we think we might get in return, instead of doing it from the heart. I know I have fallen in this area as well, afraid to let God take control of the situation. But I have also seen him work on my behalf in situations where another person was taking advantage. The definition of humility; is a modest or low view of one's importance. Essentially, that means you are not more important than anyone else, we all our his children and his love is the same for everyone of us. When humble ourselves and allow God to promote us, it will be done with perfection. Your turn is coming!

Scabies, Bed Bugs, and Other Pestilence
Remember the bed bug epidemic last year, well it seems there is another bug outbreak. The microscopic mite called scabies is infesting local dormitories, nursing homes, and daycare facilities in North Carolina.
A dormitory at UNC Greensboro began to receive complaints by multiple students of bug bites. The culprit was scabies. The entire dormitory had to be treated even if they showed no signs of being bitten.
Undetectable by the human eye, scabies can crawl underneath the skin where they lay eggs and begin to infest the body. Scabies can cause severe itching accompanied by reddish pimple like bumps on the skin.
A prescription topical cream is one of the most effective treatments in getting rid of the little pest. For more information on Scabies contact your healthcare provider.

Safety Tips for Walkers and Joggers
Are Charlotte’s
Greenways Safe?
Shannise Jackson-Ndiaye
During the summer months the greenway trails and paths of Mecklenburg County are used by thousands of people. Some of the same reasons people are attracted to the greenways may also be what attracts criminals.
Greenways have secluded wooded paths and inconsistent traffic flow, which can make the most seasoned walker or jogger vulnerable.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has outlined some simple tips that might just keep you safe on the greenways this summer.
Eight Safety Tips for Walkers and Joggers
Be alert, walk with authority, look ahead and scan your surroundings.
Jog or walk with a known companion.
Always jog or walk in a familiar area; avoid heavily wooded, poorly lighted or secluded areas.
Be aware of your surroundings; avoid wearing devices with earphones that will disable you from hearing activities around you.
Wear bright colored clothing to improve visibility; avoid exercising after dark.
Vary your route, if you think you are being followed go to the nearest residence, open business or group of people and seek help.
Carry a cell phone to use for emergencies; avoid leisurely talking on the phone when walking; criminals prey on people that are distracted.
Be extra alert to someone who asks for directions and continues to engage you in conversation.

LESSONS FROM THE TRAIL: DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
LESSONS FROM THE TRAIL: DON’’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
This summer is all about living out loud and following my dreams, so that means I am writing and exercising. Well on Friday I went to take a four-mile walk on the Clark’s Greenway and take some pictures for my journalism class assignment. As I am getting out of my car, purse in hand I notice a gentlemen parked next to me. He was taking his bike off the bike rack of his car. He had that grandfather look to him, white hair and white beard. I open the hatch to my car and find a place behind some boxes for my purse, never thinking that Grandpa was casing me out.
How often do we make judgments about a person’s character based on how they look? We assume the woman who looks like a soccer mom would never neglect her children or the young man with the sagging pants is a thug in training. I am guilty of this, I assumed because the man was older and dressed a certain way he wasn’t a threat. He seemed polite he smiled and spoke.
I saw him again about twenty minutes later he was headed back towards his car. I thought to myself, that was a quick ride but I kept walking. When I returned to my car and opened my trunk to get my purse I discovered an empty space.
Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing.
